  • Blood donation: Rajasthan at dismal 24th spot

  • Voluntary blood donation in summers has taken a significant dip leading to crisis of blood in some blood banks of the city. One blood bank in a private hospital faced shortage of blood which was immediately helped by social organisations by holding blood donation camps in different parts of the city.
However, in the state, the voluntary blood donation was 62.19%. Rajasthan is at the 24th spot in voluntary blood donation in 2017-18.

  • According to National Blood Transfusion Council, voluntary blood donation means a non-remunerated blood donor gives blood, plasma or cellular components of his or her own free will and receives no payment, either in the form of cash or kind which could be considered a substitute for money.
