Main Features of Punjab Budget is as follows:

Farmers

Debt relief to distressed farmers: To provide financial assistance to the Debt-ridden farmers particularly small and marginal farmers in the state to reduce their debt burden, under the scheme “Scheme for providing debt relief to the distressed farmers in the State”. 1500.00 Crores

 

Harra (Green) Tractor Scheme: 25,000 tractors along with other agriculture implements would be given at subsidized rates to the unemployed youth to enable them to start their own ventures for agriculture services under the scheme„Shaheed Bhagat Singh Employment Generation scheme. 5.00 Crores

Loan to Sugar Cooperatives for payment to cane growers 180.00 Crores

To prohibit kurki and sale of farmer‟s land by the lending agencies, the Govt. would enact a new legislation in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

To promote agriculture sector insurance scheme with the seed capital from the Government, Punjab State Agricultural Insurance Corporation will be established.

Rate of compensation for loss of crops (Kharaba) has been increased from Rs. 8000/- to Rs. 12000/- per acre

 

Women Empowerment

Swadhar Greh scheme: To provide relief and rehabilitation of women in difficult circumstances including victims of cruelty etc. 15 Crores

National Creche Scheme for the children of working mothers: To provide day care facilities to children (0-6 years) of working mothers and other deserving women. Financial Assistance to Acid Attack Female Victims launched under which financial assistance @ ` 8000/- per month shall be provided to the sufferer.

 

Safety for Women” launched for ensuring women safety in the State. 02 Crores

 

Welfare

Assistance to BACKFINCO to clear outstanding dues of National Corporations. 10.00  Crores

Loan waiver scheme for PSCFC launched to provide relief up to ` 50000/- to the SC beneficiaries. 17.66 Crores

Loan waiver scheme for BACKFINCO launched to provide relief up to ` 50000/- to the BC beneficiaries. 2.44 Crores

Financial assistance under ‘Aashirwad Scheme’ increased from Rs. 15000/- to Rs. 21000/-

2000 houses will be constructed for eligible urban SC/BC families

 

Rural Development

Development of infrastructure in rural areas 1500.00 Crores ‘Pendu Sarvjan Hitkari’ Scheme Houses for houseless (rural) launched to provide free residential houses to houseless rural poor.

 

Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM): To stimulate local Economic develoment, enhance basic services and create well planned urban cluster.

 

Basic amenities/purchase of land for burial ground/grave yard for Christian and Muslim communities.

Home Affair and Justice

A new initative “Setting up of State Level Control Room for Dial-100” launched to reach the Caller within 15 minutes in the city area and 20 minutes in the rural area.
